Mall-provided WiFi ('_29th_Street_Guest_Wi-Fi', by Macerich). Official designated spot: Central Plaza next to West Elm. Signal varies as you walk the open-air street โ fine for browsing, not work.
29th Street Mall is Boulder's main open-air shopping center, anchored by stores like Macy's, REI, and a large selection of restaurants and retailers. Free WiFi is available throughout the common areas.
The WiFi is suitable for light browsing and keeping up with messages while you shop. For a longer work session, the food court and sit-down restaurants along the mall offer a better environment than the open walkways.

BoulderWiFi.com visited Twenty Ninth Street and connected to the mall's complimentary _29th_Street_Guest_Wi-Fi (provided by Macerich, the national operator that runs the center) on June 5, 2026. The mall's own site confirms the free WiFi, with the designated internet spot in the Central Plaza, next to West Elm.

Walking the open-air corridor, we measured 5.52 Mbps down, 63 ms ping โ a representative reading taken on the move, not a hunted-down best-case spot. Coverage runs both sides of the pedestrian street by the storefronts and shifts as you pass between access points; pause near the Central Plaza zone or a store entrance for a stronger signal. That's plenty for messages, maps, and light browsing while you shop โ not a remote-work connection.
Test notes: the result lists a Phoenix, AZ server because Macerich routes its guest WiFi through a national provider (not a location error), and upload isn't shown because speedtest.net's mobile web test measures download and ping only.
Good for: Staying connected while running errands, a quick email check between stores.
Not ideal for: Focused remote work โ the open-air environment and foot traffic aren't conducive to productivity.
